Founded by Police Officers to Help Families

Our founders, police officers Craig McEwen and Doug Wierzba, started Secure ID in 2002 after years of experience in responding to missing children cases and working with their parents or guardians.


We discovered a way we could help parents help the authorities find their children. You see, when a child is missing, the authorities need an accurate description of the child so people can be on the lookout. But in their distress, parents and guardians are often unable to provide even basic descriptions of the children.


It was then that we realized the need for Child ID cards. One for the child, and one for their parent or guardian.

What We Do

We got our start by going to county fairs and other community events. There, we sold Child ID cards—our first product. As our business grew, so did our product range. Now we sell allergy alert cards, food allergy cards, medical alert cards, custom badges and buttons, pet ID cards, and emergency preparedness products, such as the LifeVac Choking Aid, among other safety and security items.


We also developed In Case of Emergency (ICE) cards that double as an emergency contact card for people living with dementia, particularly for individuals who may wander. We expanded our range to include medical cards for individuals on the autism spectrum as well. These medical awareness cards helped others to know how to communicate with people on the autism spectrum and who to contact in case of an emergency.


As part of our commitment to offer high-quality products, we take extra care in sourcing, designing, and creating our products. We source products and materials that are made in the USA. We also make all our custom products in our shop.

Secure ID Cards

Our cards are made using a thermal image printer—the same equipment used to print credit cards and driver’s licenses—to ensure quality and durability. Each one is waterproof and fully customizable, allowing you to add all the relevant information, as well as optional features.


We wanted to create something that you or your loved ones can easily carry with you wherever you go. That’s why we’ve designed our cards to fit in wallets and purses.


We know how important it is to have access to the right information, which is why we pay attention to detail to avoid misspellings. We also wanted to create cards that are easy to read to prevent miscommunication and allow first responders to easily identify all the vital medical and emergency contact details.


Our experience has taught us that each person has different needs, so we introduced write-on cards. These have a matte finish on the back, so you can write down specific information, such as particular food allergies. Like our custom cards, we’ve designed our write-on cards to be smudge-proof.

Meet Our Team

Doug Wierzba

Co-Founder and CEO

Doug is a former detective, volunteer firefighter/first responder, and Crime Scene Unit (CSU) head. He also has extensive experience in conducting criminal and civil investigations, which include dealing with missing children cases, which has fueled his passion for creating security cards and designing safety products.

 

He brings his excellent attention to detail to each of our products, whether it’s an emergency contact card or employee identification cards. He can help you create the perfect design for your custom cards, buttons, badges, and name tags.

 

We wouldn’t know where we would be today without Doug, who has been passionately providing guidance and unparalleled customer service since day one.

Brandon Wierzba

E-Commerce Manager

Brandon manages our E-Commerce platforms which is no easy task. In addition to our website, we sell on Amazon, eBay and Etsy! Aside from doing his day-to-day duties as an E-Commerce manager, he also helps fulfill orders and make custom buttons, as well as help out at the events we’re attending or participating in. Brandon grew up with the business and is keeping it in the family!
